Zombie Tsunami 4.5.133

Fast zombies don't fast

The never ending fascination with hordes of (usually) dead humans with a heavy case of rotten flesh never ceases to intrigue me. Could it be that zombies are the most politically correct euphemism for the brain-dead of today's society? Could be. As a matter of fact, you could easily use stock footage of zombies bursting into a mall on Black Friday for your average amateur horror flick.

If zombies are usually reason to fire a host of weaponry, in Zombie Tsunami you play as the bad guys as you're literally controlling a horde of green hominids running through a classic American backdrop.

Zombie Tsunami

The goal in Zombie Tsunami is a rather humanitarian one. Hear me out. The best thing to do in order to preserve your existence is to "recruit" new blood. This is accomplished by chomping on a prospect's neck to add him or her to the ranks. By turning a terrified civilian into an ecstatic running zombie you're making the guy a favor. Honestly, would you rather scream your lungs out on a hanging highway, terrified of the carnage around you, or join the party? I think the choice is easy.

It's true that during your never ending romp through traffic, minefields and unstable terrain not everyone is going to make it, but the herd mentality makes it irrelevant who draws the short stick as long as at least one brain dead guy keeps on running. That's basically it.

Of course, you get some powerups from time to time in order to spice up the action and there are other reasons for keeping a large team, for example you will encounter standing vehicles that can be overturned to get their occupants out, but you will need a certain number of zombies to bump into that vehicle simultaneously. While a trash bin is opened by just two, you will need a lot more to overturn a bus, a tank or even an airplane. However, it is very satisfying when you finally get to do that.

Zombie Tsunami

You can buy your zombie horde a number of upgrades, but these are all locked behind a system of challenges, and unlock in a very specific order, leaving out any customization options unfortunately.

However, the gameplay is very nice, and you can easily ignore all of the freemium stuff, as the gameplay is too random to worry about paid boosts.

The graphics are quirky crazy. Everybody's got some variation of googly eyes, while all humans look like a modern caricature of Steve Buscemi, or the characters from from the "Neighbors from Hell" video game series.

Final Thoughts

I really enjoy Zombie Tsunami. It is a collective endless runner full of randomness and completely unfair at times. Recommended! :*
